This research aims to study the ant repellent effects of the crude ethanolic extracts from 7 herbs; Piper nigrum Linn. Alpinia galanga (L.) Willd Ocimum basilicum L. Cymbopogon citratus Stapf Citrus aurantiifolia (Christm.) Swingle Citrus hystrix DC and Stemona collinsae Craib. Whatman filter paper was dipped with each concentration of the crude ethanolic extracts (0.625 1.25 2.5 and 5 % w/v) and placing the bait on a treated filter paper. The experiments were conducted in the natural. The numbers of weaver ants were recorded at 0 - 30 minutes. From the results the crude ethanolic extracts at 5% w/v of A. galanga was the most effective for repellent the ant (repellent rate; %R = 94.72 ± 2.39) followed with C. citratus (%R = 89.45 ± 3.85) S. collinsae (%R = 82.92 ± 4.47) and P.nigrum (%R = 81.20 ± 5.92). The repellent rates of those crude ethanolic extracts were significantly difference from distilled water which use for the negative control (P < 0.05). The crude ethanolic extract of A. galanga at concentration 5% w/v was prepared as spray cream chalk and powder. At 30 minutes of the observation the ethanolic extracts of A. galanga spray was the best ant repellent effect (%R = 100). The result from questionnaires reveals that a spray preparation was the more satisfaction for the using ant repellent products.

This research aims to develop Thai herbal formulas for household cleaning products and reduce the use of chemicals by using kaffir lime herbs to extract essential oils by using a method of squeezing from the bark. The result is a dark green essential oil with a pleasant aroma when mixed with liquid hand soap and natural residues such as water extracted from silkworm cocoons to add moisture and lye to remove it. Reduce the use of chemical flavoring agents the use of coloring chemicals the use of moisturizing agents and the use of degreasers. In this research the formula for hand washing liquid soap using 80 ml. of essential oil from kaffir lime peel is the right amount resulting in liquid hand soap with a pH value of 7.3 which is the value that is in the standard for mixed liquid soap products. The study entitled “An Analysis of Local Wisdom on Herbs from Anti Sara Wak Scripture” is a mixed-method research. The research objectives were to evaluate the value of Anti Sara Wak scripture and to analyze beliefs in Thai society which occurred in this scripture. The samples of the study obtained from a convenient sampling were five experts of Nang Leong community. The research instrument used for data collection was questionnaire consisting of 4 parts: part 1 respondents’ general information part 2 and 3 relevant to the experience in using herbal medicine and the faith in Admiral Prince Abhakara Kiartivongse Prince of Chumphon or the author of Anti Sara Wak scripture and part 4 the open-ended section asking suggestions to further investigate Anti Sara Wak and beliefs in Thai society which appeared in this scripture. In addition the depth interview was also used to collect the data from 5 experts of Nang Leong community. The data were then analyzed to find out the value of Anti Sara Wak and beliefs in Thai society from the scripture. The majority of the respondents were elderly people. The oldest respondent was 79 years old. These respondents rated the questionnaire: 5 for strongly agree 4 for agree 3 for neutral 2 for disagree and 1 for strongly disagree reporting their attitudes towards the use of Thai herbal medicine. The results of the study show that the respondents strongly agreed with the use of Thai herbal medicine in daily life (80%) because it was suitable responding to the objective. They also added that Anti Sara Wak scripture should be publicized (90%). However there was little information available on Thai herbal medicine (30%). Additionally the results showed a strong faith in Admiral Prince Abhakara Kiartivongse Prince of Chumphon (90%). The results of analyses show that there were beliefs in Thai society that appeared in Anti Sara Wak scripture especially folklore beliefs such as superstitious beliefs holy things as well as tips and forbidden rules. Therefore Anti Sara Wak scripture provided empirical evidence in Thai history showing its value as one of Thai traditional medicine recipes.
