Moisture content has a marked influence on all aspects of paddy and rice quality. These issues also have significantly importance for rice industry and economy of Thailand. Many drying process such as spouted bed technique and fluidized bed technique are extremely studied in terms of instrument design and energy consumption. However these drying processes were not suitable for high economic rice. Because of these processes performed highly damaged kernels during drying process. The objective of this project we proposed the alternative drying system that perform low damaged paddy kernels. We also were design and fabrication drying system for paddy in terms of conveyer pipe. This machine have the performance including feed rate approximately 22.83 kg/hr. drying temperature 30-120ºC air velocity 0-1.5 m/s drying time 14.64-16.91 min and energy consumption 6.02 baht/hr. We improved our machine by drying the RD41 paddy at moisture content 28 (%w.b.). We also setup drying temperatures 40°C 45°C 50°C 55°C and 60°C with air velocities 0.7m/s 1.0m/s and 1.5m/s. We found that all drying temperatures have the final moisture content lower than 15 (%w.b.) and percentage of complete paddy after drying (HRY-paddy) more than 96%. For the kernels quality we found that HRY-Brown rice tend to increase with drying temperature increased. We also found that HRY-Unbroken kernels for polishing tend to decrease between drying temperature 40°C - 50°C for air velocities 0.7m/s and 1.5m/s. Therefore these results obtained can be such a high potential approach that can be used for further developing into rice economy and industry of Thailand.
Study on Rajamangala University of Technology PhraNakhon cafeteria wastewater treatment in alternating flooding and drying soil with 3 plant species system
The experiment was in a type of 4 experimental wells with the size of width x length x height was equal to 0.5x1x 0.5 meters including the experimental well which had plants of Colocasiaesculenta (L.)Schott PandanusamaryllifoliusRoxb and Canna indica Linn and the rest was the control well without any plants. The time period of Alternating 5 days flooding and 2 days drying Soil. The parameter studied included BOD value suspended solids Total KjeldahlNitrogen Total Phosphorus pH and Oil and Grease. The research result found that the experimental well which had Colocasiaesculenta (L.)Schott PandanusamaryllifoliusRoxb and Canna indica Linn had the effectiveness in wastewater treatment higher than the control well without any plants. After treatment with the control well without any plants the experimental which had plants of Colocasiaesculenta (L.)Schott PandanusamaryllifoliusRoxb and Canna indicaLinn with the romoval percentage of BOD value at 22.66 69.93 63.48 and 76.37 respectively.Suspended Solids at 22.66 69.93 63.48 and 76.37 respectively.TotalKjeldahl Nitrogen at 26.41 68.67 64.21 and 72.99 respectively.Total Phosphorus at 52.26 81.6975.73and79.88respectively.pHat6.42 6.556.64and 6.88 respectively.Oil and Grease at 62.08 78.75 76.47 and 80.39respectively.
This research aims to study the effect of drying temperature on the changes in the moisture content of charcoal briquettes undergoing drying of solar energy and far-infrared radiation (Solar+FIR) and far-infrared radiation (FIR). The electricity consumption and the specific energy consumption were also investigated. The coconut shell charcoal briquettes with the initial moisture content of about 41-43% MW were dried at 55 60 and 65oC until the final moisture content of 8% MW was obtained. Based on the experimental results it was found that the drying temperatures and the drying methods had effects on the changes in the moisture content of charcoal briquettes. Drying at high temperature could reduce the moisture content of charcoal briquettes faster than that at low temperature. Drying using FIR could reduce the moisture content of charcoal briquettes faster than that using Solar+FIR. Moreover the electricity consumption and the specific energy consumption decreased with an increase in the drying temperature. Drying using Solar+FIR had lower electricity consumption but had higher specific energy consumption than drying using FIR. In this study the charcoal briquettes had the average heating value of about 6667.05 cal/g.
Method of preparing and drying on physical and chemical croperties of germinated khaohang rice from kdml105
These researches were to determine the preparing and drying on physical and chemical properties of germinated khaohang rice from KDML105. Two factors on study were preparing germinated khaohang rice (chill at 5 oC and frozen -20 oC) and drying method (tray drier and infrared drier). The results on expansion (%) and texture of cooked rice found that there were not significant influence interaction and two main factors. But main factor on infrared drying method were affected to the highest head rice yield (%) and lowest on Chroma (C*). As same as gamma amino butyric acid (GABA) had the highest 23.37 (mg/100g) and preparing germinated khaohang rice had between 20.50 to 22.21 (mg/100g). The pasting properties reducing sugar total phenolic scavenging activity of DPPH free radical (%) and resistance starch were significant influence interaction.
Effects of foaming agents on the quality of mahajanaka mango by foam-mat drying
Mahajanaka mango (Mangifera indica L.) the yellow fruit had identity on color aroma and sweet taste. It had the highly potential to develop into a powdered beverage with a aroma and flavor similar to fresh fruit juices as possible. The objective of this study was to determine an appropriate foaming substance from 6 types ; Methocel? 65 HG Glyceryl monostearate (GMS) Carboxy methyl cellulose (CMC) Methocel? 65 HG mixed with GMS Methocel? 65 HG mixed with CMC and GMS mixed with CMC with 1:1 w/w with completely Randomized experimental design. Physicochemical properties of mahajanaka mango juice the color values L* a* b* pH total soluble solid citric acid and total solid equals 39.02 18.79 67.36 3.96 14.00๐Brix 0.40 milligram per 100 grams and 15.14%. The mahajanaka mango juice was adjusted 0.70% total acidity (as citric acid) 25๐Brix of total soluble solid and added 2.0% of maltodextrin. The result showed that an appropriate foaming agent was added 45% of 1.8% mixture of Methocel? 65 HG with CMC into mahachanaka mango juice. It had foam stability and density. The mahajanaka mango juice foam had values of stability density and overrun equals 0.001 milligram per min 0.14 gram per milligram and 602.11% respectively and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) had a porous structure with sphere and ellipsoid particle.
