การศึกษาเทคโนโลยีที่เหมาะสมกับการลดมลพิษและอัตราการสิ้นเปลืองเชื้อเพลิงของหัวรถจักร เพื่อความคุ้มค่าต่อการลงทุน
Presently the rail transit system plays a major role in the commercial world that they currently use diesel engine not only causing to a lot of fuel consumption but also generating numerously pollution. Therefore this project aims to study the break-even point of investment under comparison of brake specific fuel consumption and pollution of locomotive engines. By experimental works there are 3 types of locomotive engine: Pielstick M.T.U. and Caterpillar which are the difference of the combustion chamber and the fuel injection systems. The simulation load on the static tests (Dynamometer) was used following the regulation characteristic curve which is standard of State Railway of Thailand. As a result of testing the engine using common rail type of fuel injection system M.T.U. was the lowest brake specific fuel consumption at all of engine by the average of all engine speed 206 g/kW-h of brake specific fuel consumption. It is lower than Caterpillar (Semi common rail with direct injection) which is 314 g/kW-h equivalent 34.39 % while Pielstick engine a mechanism fuel injection system is 389 g/kW-h equivalent 47.04 % For pollution area there are Hydrocarbon (HC) Nitrogen Oxide (NOX) and black smut. The engine with direct injection system relieved the previous substance less than the pre-combustion engine. Moreover the compound of carbon monoxide (CO) was found that the pre-combustion engine (Pielstick) discharged carbon monoxide (CO) less than the direct injection engine (Caterpillar) whereas the common rail engine emancipated same substan cenear by with the pre-combustion engine (Pielstick). However the new technology of the engines is high maintenance costs. Therefore a number of applications have to be needed to make a quantitative value for the investment.
Biomass potential of 56 accessions of leucaena as animal and biofuel feedstocks
Biomass yield between 56 accessions of leucaena were observed at Suwanvajokkasikit Field Crops Research Station Nakhonratchasima province. Randomized block design was used with 3 replications and 56 accessions as treatments. Leucaena was harvested at 2 years of age. Plant length wood yield branch yield and leaf yield were collected. Averaged plant length was in range of 6.84-11.87 meters with KU19 was highest in length. Five accessions that produced more wood yield were KU15 KU38 KU1 KU19 and KU10. Yield of these accessions were 24.07 21.96 16.71 15.36 and 14.95 t/rai with ash content at 1.43 1.04 1.76 3.66 and 1.34 percent respectively while native leucaena (KU20) had the lowest yield (0.91 t/rai). Branch yield among the accessions; KU1 KU10 KU38 KU 15 and KU19 had the greatest branch yield averaged 3.04 2.76 1.62 1.42 and 1.38 t/rai respectively. While top five in leaf yields were in KU15 KU56 KU45 KU39 and KU19 at 1.12 1.11 0.88 0.87 and 0.86 t/rai respectively.
Study on rice straw to be bio-fuel pellets
FAO reported in year 2008 world paddy production more than 40 countries and about 60 million tones of rice straw were produced in Thailand. For most farmers use an easy method for land clearing by straw burning in open area. Greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide(CO2) emissions from paddy field burning to atmosphere is causes of global warming problem. This project aimed to utilize agricultural waste from rice field to be cheap biomass energy was started in 2009 at Nhongjork area. The waste was mixed with molasses and kaolin in ratio of rice straw : molasses : kaolin as 80:10:10 by weights. A size of rice straw fuel pellet was 1.54 cm. diameter and 2 cm. height. The calorific value of the rice straw pellet was tested by using Gallekamp Autobomb instrument by ASTM(American Society of Testing and Materials) standard. The results of testing found : CO2 emission from rice straw fuel pellets as half of burning in open area (by weight). Cost of energy for cooking by using Bio-fuel pellets only 7 Baht( 0.25 US $) and half price by comparing with LPG. The useful of rice straw Bio-fuel pellet is one of a cheap biomass energy for household and small manufacturers.
Review of the addition of hydrogen to the compressed natural Gas Fuel
This article presents a collection of studies relating to the development of technologies using hydrogen with compressed natural gas or Hydrogen-enriched Compressed Natural Gas (HCNG). Regarding to the issues of mixing ratio the data show that the appropriated amount of hydrogen falls between 20%-30% by volume in order to balance any tradeoff between engine performance and emissions. The equivalent ratio can be adjusted to be as low as 0.5-0.6. The ignition timingmust also be retarded (Ignition Delay) by averagely 5 degrees of crankshaft rotation to compensate for the change of burning speed. Theuse of 20%-30% of hydrogen by volume decrease both HC and NOx as compared to the use of CNG alone. In terms of the fuel system design the individually-stored gas injection system is of interest. It provides flexibility especially for the adjustment of the fuel composition for optimum ration in any operating conditions. But at present there is no commercial development of such system.
Potential energy of the fuel briquettes from mangosteen shell
The objective of this research is to use mangosteen shell that from household wastes for produce the fuel briquette. This fuel is used in terms of renewable energy which instead of firewood and charcoal from natural forest. We used the adhesive paste as a binder and briquette with hand pack filler. The results showed that the mangosteen shell can be burned to charcoal black and lightweight. By grinding mangosteen charcoal into small size these charcoals were mixing with the paste. We have to compress the mixing charcoal molded into fuel briquettes. These briquettes are performed the stable and non-broken products. After sun drying the results of potential energy testing showed that the calorific value 5920 cal/g combustion rate 11.8 g/min fixed carbon content 61.7% and ash content 7%. For the combustion efficiency testing our fuel briquette could be performed cooking as well non-explosion high combustible non-soot non-smoke and non-odors during used. These fuel briquettes are suitable for fuel products in household community or commercial production and industrial. Due to these advantages our briquettes are possibly to instead of firewood and charcoal from natural forest which can be reduced the global warming by another way.
