How the Role-Plays Can Be Increased Students’ Self-Confidence in Using English for Communication Arts

This study was aimed to investigate how the role-play can be increased students’ selfconfidence in using English for Communication Arts-Comm. Arts as well as the students’ attitudes towards the use of role-play in English for Communication Arts class. There are 64 students who registered in second semester 2008 at Rambhai Barni Rajabhat University--RBRU. Since students’ confidence was difficult to determine and measure objectively the technique required information from the students through pre and post questionnaires. The data were two periods collected before and after Role-play using in English for Communication Arts class. And the data were thereby formulated and tabulated in terms of frequency percentage mean and standard deviation. The hypothesis was tested by a pair sample test. The findings of the study indicated that role-plays could increase the majority of the students’ confidence to use English for Communication in Comm. Arts. field and also showed that most students had positive attitudes and interesting activity toward the use of role-play in Comm. Arts course.

The Role of the MAPK Pathways in Response to Ethanol Stress in Saccharomyces cerevisiae
The Role of the MAPK Pathways in Response to Ethanol Stress in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

During fermentation process yeast cells are often exposed to ethanol. Although the toxicity of ethanol to budding yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae has widely been studied the ethanol stress signaling is still unknown. The growth of the mutants lacking genes involved in the mitogen activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathways was examined under ethanol stress condition. Our results revealed that the STE3 and AKR1 genes involved in the pheromone signaling pathway and the BCK1 MPK1 SWI4 SWI6 and MBP1 genes involved in the cell wall integrity pathway were required for tolerance to ethanol. In addition to the mutants of the cell wall integrity pathway the Δste3 and Δakr1 mutants were sensitive to a cell wall perturbing agent calcoflour white suggesting the role of these signaling molecules in maintaining cell wall during ethanol stress.

The Role of Vacuole and Vacuolar H+-ATPase in Tolerance to Cadmium in Saccharomyces Cerevisiae
The Role of Vacuole and Vacuolar H+-ATPase in Tolerance to Cadmium in Saccharomyces Cerevisiae

Heavy metal is one of the major environmental pollutants. However the protective cellular mechanisms in response to heavy metal stress are not well-understood yet. Previously it has been found that the yeast deletion mutants lacking vacuolar H+-ATPase (V-ATPase) activity which functions in vacuolar acidification exhibited growth defects under cadmium stress conditions. In addition several genes involved in H+-ATPase have been recently found to be required for resistance to aluminum. To investigate the roles of vacuolar H+-ATPase plasma membrane H+-ATPase and mitochondrial H+-ATPase in tolerance to cadmium we examined the growth of yeast deletion mutants lacking different types of H+-ATPase in YPD media containing 80 μM of cadmium. Our results showed that a number of mutants lacking V-ATPase activity were sensitive to cadmium suggesting the important role of V-ATPase in cadmium detoxification. We next examined the growth of mutants lacking genes responsible for different vacuolar functions in order to investigate the functional activities of vacuoles involved in cadmium detoxification mechanism. We found that the mutants lacking vacuolar protein-sorting genes exhibited high sensitivity to cadmium as well suggesting the importance of protein transportation during cadmium stress.

Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon had signed an MOU with the Ministry of Science and Technology to set up a Clinic Technology in January 2003. The Clinic has operated since the fiscal year 2004 with subsidiary from the Ministry of Science and Technology. It has a main duty in transferring technology providing consulting and information services on technology research and development and distributing knowledge and insight in science and technology. In 2005 the Clinic received a budget of 3278100 baths in 9 projects that provided service for 4171 persons. In 2006 a budget of 1786500 baths was allocated for 6 projects that provided service for 2017 persons. In 2007 it received a budget of 2622000 baths in 12 projects that provided services for 2874 persons. The Clinic has achieved a success in reducing expense increasing income and enhancing life quality of communities. It obviously has an important role in integrating research work into technological transfer and economic development of communities.

การหาปริมาณการสั่งซื้อน้ำมันเชื้อเพลิงอย่างประหยัด: กรณีศึกษาบริษัทรับขนส่งสินค้า

This research focuses on the raw-material management such as fuel of a case study company being a freight forwarder in Chonburi province. The objective is to determine the economic order quantity (EOQ) and the reorder point (ROP) that minimize the total cost of handling. Five forecasting techniques are investigated to predict the future demand and it was found that the time series decomposition was the most suitable method with the least error. At the result of demand forecasting the economic order quantity is 16308.89 liters per time the total cost of handling the fuel tank is 17287.43 baht and there are ordering around 19 times per year. In addition the sensitivity study on demand factors affecting the cost of fuel tank management are also considered in this paper. It was found that 21% of the increased fuel demand brings the total handling cost is 1728.74 baht or increasing 10%. Therefore ordering economically can reduce the total cost of 1295.97 baht or 6.85%. If the company brings the studied results to improve the ordering process it will be able to forecast the order quantity more appropriately and effectively.
