An application of Bayesian Models for risk of withdrawal from calculus 2 for engineers of students at Faculty of Engineering, Rajamangala University of Technology Pra Nakorn, North Bangkok Campus
An application of Bayesian Models for risk of withdrawal from calculus 2 for engineers of students at Faculty of Engineering, Rajamangala University of Technology Pra Nakorn, North Bangkok Campus

The objectives of this research are: to study the characteristics of students in the Faculty of Engineering at Rajamangala University of Technology Pra Nakorn North Bangkok Campus that influence to the risk of withdrawal from Calculus 2 for Engineers; to predict the risk of withdrawal from Calculus 2 for Engineers; and to use the results of the study for planning and solving the problems of withdrawal from Calculus 2 for Engineers. The sample is 226 students in the Faculty of Engineering at Rajamangala University of Technology who enrolled the Calculus 2 for engineers in the second semester of the academic year 2009. The data are from the questionnaire. The factors considered are grad point average the number of enrollments for the Calculus 1 for engineers Calculus 1 for Engineers grade the number of courses that emphasize on calculation that were enrolled in the second semester of the academic year 2009 the sacrifices of students for the Calculus 2 for Engineers course and the need to withdraw from Calculus 2 for Engineers course before other courses. The logistic regression model in which the parameters are estimated by using Bayesian methods is used for analyzing the data. The study shows that the factors that influence to the risk of withdrawal from the Calculus 2 for Engineers are grade point average Calculus 1 for Engineers grade the number of courses that emphasize on calculation that were enrolled in the second semester of the academic year 2009 and the sacrifices of students for the Calculus 2 for Engineers and the need to withdraw from Calculus 2 for Engineers before other courses. The factor that does not influence to the risk of withdrawal from the Calculus 2 for Engineers is the number of enrollments for the Calculus 1 for Engineers.

Problems and Obstacles in Accepting the Students for TrainingAccording to the Workplaces' Notions: a Case Study of UndergraduaStudents in the Faculty of Business AdministrationtedRajamangala Institute of Technology Bangkok Commercial Campus

This research is obviously studied the problems and obstacles in accepting the students for training according to the workplaces notions through the areas of training management training format training students qualifications and training students knowledge. The subjects for this research were randomly selected from varipus firms which accepted 115 third year undergraduated students in training. Questionnaires were statistically analyses by Percentage Mean and Standard Deviation. The findings of this research were as follow :1. In the training management aspect the workplaces were not able to cooperate with school for preparatory training and they did not know the major objectives of the training course syllabus moreover the firms did not have specific positions for training students. 2. Through the training format the observers who checked training students performances did not cooperate with the workplaces and the training students who themselves directly contacted to workplaces were not accepted. Furthermore there was no continuity of scattering training students on workplaces. 3. The purposes of the study are 1) to develop the translating ability of undergraduates in Business English Field 2) to perceive learning activities problems and 3) to know the undergraduates attitude towards the learning activities using the Reflective approach and Group Investigation technique. The sample used in this study was 38 undergraduates of the Business English Field Academic Year 2006 of Rajamangala University of Technology Bangkok Commercial Campus. The researcher provided the undergraduates 50 business news per a week for 10 groups totaling 300 business news to study trough the seventh stages of the Reflective Approach and Group Investigation technique combination: stage1 student selected a business news to be studied stage2 students planed together and divided labor stage4 students prepared the final report stage5 was a presentation of the report to the class stage6 was an evaluation of each group work and stage7 was a reflective learning recording in the reflective learning form. The study was carried out 13 weeks for forty-two 50 minute periods. The experimental design was one group pretest and posttest design. The instruments used in this study were: 1) the preparation plan 2) The Reflective Approach and Group Investigation learning-activities plan 3) pre and post tests 4) summative tests 5) the RA and GI learning-activities working-observation forms 6) the Reflective leamingrecording form and 7) attitude questionnaires.
