The application of kaolin with coconut meal, plywood from corncobs and durian peel in concrete masonry unit wall for increasing effective heat protection and lightweight
This research aims to study the application of kaolin with coconut fiber corncobs fiber and durian peel in concrete masonry unit wall for increasing effective heat protection and lightweight. The ratio of cement type 1: kaolin is equal to 1: 60 by weight. The kaolin is replaced by fiber include coconut fiber corncob fiber durian peel fiber with 1.67% 3.33% and 5% by weight of kaolin. The kaolin concrete block mixed with fiber sample size is formed to 6.9 x 39 x 19 centimeter with the hydraulic compactor. The samples tested in physical and mechanical properties follow the TIS 58-2533 standard. Resulting their fibers can reduce the density thermal conductivity and compressive strength and increase the changing length and water absorption of kaolin concrete blocks. The kaolin concrete block without fiber has highest compressive strength followed by the kaolin concrete block mixed with corn cob fiber the kaolin concrete block mixed with coconut meal fiber and the kaolin concrete block mixed with durian peel fiber has lowest compressive strength respectively. However their fibers have possibility to be composite materials to reduce weight of kaolin concrete blocks

Using the kaolin with coir, rice straw and rice hush in concrete masonry unit wall for increasing effective heat protection
The objective of this research project is to develop an effectively applicable prevention of heat for concrete masonry unit wall. By using kaolin mixture coir rice straw and husk as a major ingredient in concrete to replacing usual stone dust the hollow non-load-bearing concrete masonry units obtained had the size of 70 X 190 X 390 mm. The test results showed that the reliably ideal ratio of these mixture materials had to be from the combination of kaolin coir rice straw and husk by replacing them at 5%: 5%: 15% and 50/0. The block obtained also had other certain qualifications such as Weight at 6.08 kg. water absorption at 7.96% and compressive strength at 65.4 ksc. Moreover these combined materials harbored heat capacity less than the standard concrete masonry units with the weight not more than 29%.
Development of Lightweight Concrete Masonry Units with Oil Palm Ash
The objective of this research was to find an appropriate mixing ratio of concrete with oil palm to produce concrete masonry units with properties equivalent or better than other conventional masonry materials. By trying out method the best proportion of Portland cement: sand: oil palm ash was found at 1:1:2 by weight. The ratio yielded a lightweight concrete with an average density of 766 kg/m3 and average compressive strength of approximately 90 kg/ cm2 which is higher than the minimum requirement of Thai Industrial Standards (TIS) 58- 2533 (1990) of 75 kg/cm2. Water absorption of this proportion was at an acceptable standard level of 20% by weight. From cost analysis the cost of a wall made with the obtained masonry units was about 100 baht per square meter cheaper than lightweight masonry units sold in the market. However the heat conductivity (K) was similar (0.194 W/mk). Moreover the manufacturing process of these masonry units is simple and can be run as a small local enterprise.
