This research is to study the efficiency of treating wastewater from dyeing fabric by the ozonation process. By using rutile TiO2 coated plastic media to catalyze. Which uses O3 generators with a capacity of 2.62 - 3.10 g/hr. By studying the factors that affect the treatment efficiency of COD and color such as the pH of the water used in the treatment at pH 3 pH 7 and pH 11 the initial COD concentration of 100% 50% and 25% which have values in the range of 100 -320 mg/L. O3 exposure time 120 min. From the study it is found that the efficiency of reducing the impurities in wastewater by the ozonation process in the pH 11 state the COD concentration at 50% can reduce the COD. And the maximum color is at 33.3% and 90% from the 550 ADMI color intensity with a COD of 180 mg/L. For the study of the efficiency of reducing the impurities of wastewater by ozonation process together with 2 g. of TiO2/1 L. of wastewater in the condition of pH 11 concentration COD Beginning at 100% with the ability to reduce COD values And the maximum color is at 40% and 80% of the 270 ADMI color intensity with a COD of 190 mg/L. The amount of O3 suitable for treatment has an average value of 0.0374 g/min./10.5 L. of wastewater. The duration of O3 exposure in both processes has a similar approach to the efficiency of COD and color treatment when increasing the duration of O3 exposure.
การศึกษาประสิทธิภาพการบำบัดสารพทาเลทในน้ำด้วยเยื่อกรองระดับไมโครฟิลเตรชั่น
Nowadays increasing water pollution has put significant pressure on water resources. Natural organic matter and organic micro-pollutants have been found in potentially harmful concentrations in numerous water sources. Phthalate plasticizers are also micro-pollutants of concern; Di- (2-Ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) is one of the most frequently observed plasticizers in the environment as well as one of the most persistent. The maximum permissible levels of these compounds in drinking water and wastewater discharged to the environment are set at low concentrations. In this research water samples were collected from the New Bang Kaen Canal in Bangkok Thailand (13°4906.1N 100°3042.4E) which receives wastewater from human activities and contains impurities in the water. Several common treatment technologies currently used to remove inorganic and organic contaminants from natural water supplies address serious environmental problems. Properly selected microfiltration membrane processes are elements of effective systems for water purification. Polymeric membranes are of primary interest for membrane separation techniques because they are both practical and effective. However pretreatment before using a microfiltration membrane is necessary for suspended solids reduction. This research used two types of polymeric membranes namely cellulose acetate membrane (CA) and polyvinylidene difluoride membrane (PVDF) and covers the most applicable requirements regarding pretreatment of the water intake. The performance of polymeric membranes for water treatment was also investigated. The water quality of the New Bang Kaen Canal was assessed in terms of turbidity SS and COD. This research has the potential to contribute to the monitoring of water quality in the New Bang Kaen Canal. Water quality monitoring is a fundamental tool for water resources management. The performance of polymeric microfiltration membranes was effective for water and wastewater purification in terms of solids organic substances and micro-pollutant i.e. DEHP compounds. Nevertheless the further development of polymeric membranes regarding fouling on the membrane surface and within pores needs to be improved to increase membrane performance and ameliorate the limitations of microfiltration polymeric membranes.
การออกแบบและพัฒนาเครื่องแลกเปลี่ยนความร้อนระหว่างน้าดีกับน้าเสีย กรณีศึกษา สายการผลิตกุ้งแช่แข็ง
The research objective is to utilize the waste water at 12ºC to 20ºC in exchange with the process water at the temperature of 29ºC. After entering the heat exchanger the process water will have the reduced temperature of 19ºC and then will be delivered to the cooler so the temperature of the process water will further be reduced to 15ºC to involve in the production process. Consequently the cooler’s energy use is lower. Since the common coolers used in these days have problems about the clogged system caused by shrimp residue the cleanup of the system is difficult and the maintenance cost is high. With this problem the research and development of the new heat exchanger is carried out resulting to the Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger type with the angled lid and the waste water flow control pads allowing the water alternatingly running through the lower part and upper part of each pad. The process water will flow in the 6 sets of the stainless tubes with 2 mm. thickness ½ inch diameter and 6 meter length. The space between the set is 5 centimeters for exchanging heat with the waste water flowing outside the tubes. The study conclusion is that the new heat exchanger can reduce the temperature of the process water to 19ºC so it can save the electricity cost of the cooler for 886485 baht per year and make the cleanup easier without taking off the equipment parts thus lowering the maintenance cost as well.
Heavy metal adsorption of waste waters from chemical laboratory using firebrick. Case study : Faculty of Science and Technology, Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon
The purpose of this research is to study the heavy metal removal from wastewater from laboratory by using adsorption process with firebricks. Waste water was collected among three courses of laboratory such as analytical chemistry principle chemistry and chemistry for engineers. The optimized absorption efficiencies of multi-elements with stirring time volume ratio and temperature were 2 hours 10 g/100 mL and room temperature respectively. It was found that absorption efficiencies of lead (Pb) copper (Cu) zinc (Zn) chromium (Cr) were 65.1 54.8 63.4% and ND respectively.
