Comparison efficiency of cafeteria wastewater treatment with em microbe produce by banana, watermelon and guava case study : Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon Cafeteria (North Bangkok Campus)
A Comparison Efficiency of Cafeteria Wastewater Treatment with EM Produced by Banana Watermelon and Guava Case Study : Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon Cafeteria ( North Bangkok Campus) has the objective to compare the efficiency of wastewater treatment by using the EM microbe for the Cafeteria that has no waste water treatment system. The treatment solution was leavening agent EM : Molasses : Fruits : Water in the ratio 1 : 1 : 2 : 20 liters (as an experimental group) and leavening agent EM : Molasses : Water in the ratio 1 : 2 : 20 liters (as a control group). respectively and mixed each solution set in wastewater treatment ratio of 1 : 1000 (EM 1 part : wastewater 1000 part) . In the experiment use the 10 liters of wastewater sampling and added the EM microbe solution every 3 days 10 ml per a day and daily for 3 weeks. Collecting the wastewater every 7 day. Parameters in this experiment are BOD COD SS Oil and Grease pH Color and Odor. The comparison showed that the EM made from watermelon can reduce the BOD and SS of wastewater is the best. And adapt the most of pH to pH 7. The EM make from guava can reduce the COD Oil and Grease is the best. The results were in the standards of sewage release of the building type B. In the 1st 2nd and 3rd week the BOD COD SS Oil and Grease and pH from the waste water treatment with EM microbe that make from Banana Watermelon and Guava ( as a Experimental group) and molasses (as a Control group) only are statistically different at the .05 level. By the way the Color and Odor of the waste water analysis before and after treatment with EM microbe 4 species still have yellow color and bad smell.
Study on Rajamangala University of Technology PhraNakhon cafeteria wastewater treatment in alternating flooding and drying soil with 3 plant species system
The experiment was in a type of 4 experimental wells with the size of width x length x height was equal to 0.5x1x 0.5 meters including the experimental well which had plants of Colocasiaesculenta (L.)Schott PandanusamaryllifoliusRoxb and Canna indica Linn and the rest was the control well without any plants. The time period of Alternating 5 days flooding and 2 days drying Soil. The parameter studied included BOD value suspended solids Total KjeldahlNitrogen Total Phosphorus pH and Oil and Grease. The research result found that the experimental well which had Colocasiaesculenta (L.)Schott PandanusamaryllifoliusRoxb and Canna indica Linn had the effectiveness in wastewater treatment higher than the control well without any plants. After treatment with the control well without any plants the experimental which had plants of Colocasiaesculenta (L.)Schott PandanusamaryllifoliusRoxb and Canna indicaLinn with the romoval percentage of BOD value at 22.66 69.93 63.48 and 76.37 respectively.Suspended Solids at 22.66 69.93 63.48 and 76.37 respectively.TotalKjeldahl Nitrogen at 26.41 68.67 64.21 and 72.99 respectively.Total Phosphorus at 52.26 81.6975.73and79.88respectively.pHat6.42 6.556.64and 6.88 respectively.Oil and Grease at 62.08 78.75 76.47 and 80.39respectively.
The removal efficiency of oil and grease from cafeteria wastewater by using chitosan from shrimp shell
Chitosan natural cationic polysaccharides is synthesized by deacetylation of chitin one of the major structural elements of exoskeleton of crustacean shrimps. Due to its combination of many unique properties such as no toxicity biocompatibility and biodegradability chitosan has been widely used to adsorb fat and heavy metal absorbents. The present study was undertaken to demonstrate that chitosan extracted from shrimp shell wastes had ability in fat and oil adsorption. In the process 50% chitin in shrimp shells was first obtained and converted into for 25% chitosan through demineralization deproteination and deacetylation process. The highest adsorption performance at 72% was achieved at the chitosan sample at the condition composed of 0.6 g chitosan agitating in 400 mg/L of synthetic water comprising of fat and oil shaking at 90 rpm/min for 10 min. and thus equilibrating for 15 min. at room temperature. Its fat and oil removal efficiency was a effectively close the with that of commercial chitosan (86% and 85% oil and grease removal efficiency). The synthetic chitosan revealed 68.42% adsorption efficiency in treating in water sample with 570 mg/L of oil and fat from the effluent in the canteen at Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon North Campus. Therefore from overall the chitosan prepared from shrimp shells could possibly be further developed for future application in oil and fat removal from waste water treatment system.
