The study of nutrient components in co-composted sludge, from serm suk co.,ltd. applied on brassica chinensis growth
The study of nutrient components in co-composted sludge from Serm Suk Co. Ltd. applied on Brassica chinensis growth had the objective to reduce the amount of waste from beverage processing which the factory did not eradicate properly. This experimental research helped reducing the problem of sludge eradication by using the sludge as a fertilizer. The experiment was divided into 2 sets. 1) The dried leaves and garbage 2) The dried leaves garbage and sludge. All sets have 60 . Collect data every 5 days. The growth rate of each part was measured including the height of trunk and number of leaves. Found that in the set 2 was the best nutrients the values are as follows organic matter is 30.64% (w/w) carbon is 17:11% (w/w) the ratio of carbon : nitrogen is 22:1 total nitrogen is 0.80% total phosphorus is 0.43% and pH is 6.35. It also affected to the growth of the Brassica chinensis better than set 1 and set 3. The growth of the highest level at average at 7.7 cm and the average number of leaves at 4. This set was the best ratio for growing Brassica chinensis and reducing the waste from factory as well.
Conduct of sludge from wastewater treatment of milk production transform of fuel case study : frieslandcampina fresh (Thailand) co.,ltd
This study was experimental study that had the propose to investigate the possibility of using sludge from wastewater treatment of milk production in case study of Friesland Campina Fresh (Thailand) Co Ltd. This study to investigate suitable ratio in making briquette between sludge and banana peel in ratio 95 : 5 75 : 25 50 : 50 25 : 75 and 5 : 95 by weights and analysis of compressed char were Moisture content Ash content Volatile matters Fixed carbon and Calorific value. The result of this study we found that sludge mixed with banana peel at the ratio of 25 : 75 had Moisture content 9.7 percent Ash content 15.8 percent Volatile matters 61.8 percent Fixed carbon 9.7 percent and Colorific mean 4195 kcal per kg. It can also be used briquette fuel substitutes of firewood in order to conserve the forest resources.
Development of bio-fertilizers of fermented sludge mixed with banana pulp and fermented sludge mixed with bagasse as additive nutrients to the plants.
Natural compost or organic fertilizers suitably applied to soil since it improves soil quality is cheap and easy to manage and has no pollution residues. However the right ratio of ingredienttypes as well as enough fermentation period have to be tested in order to obtain suitable fertilizer for each particular plant species. In this study researchers have conducted experimental fermentation of organic composts composed of various ratios of either residues of bagasse or banana pulp mixed with sludge. This organic compost performs as organic fertilizer adding nutrients to the sludge since the sewage sludge by itself can only help improve soil structure but has insufficient nutrients for the growth of plants. The sludge in the experiment was obtained from sewage sludge at WatSuanKaew Nonthaburi province. The results of the organic compost after fermented 49 days showed that the compost turned to brown and black and most plant materials were already macerated. The compost of sewage sludge mixed with banana pulp in the ratio of both 0.75 to 5.0 and 1.0 9 to 5.0 yielded the best growth of the morning glory. Both formulas accelerated the growth of seedlings of the plant to a high average of 15.0 ± 0.3 cm after grown for14 days. The concentration of main nutrients was also close to the values specified by the standard compost. This banana pulp compost with pH 7-9 helpedreduce the acidity in the soil. While organic fertilizer derived from sewage sludge mixed with bagasse could only help accelerate the growth of the seedlings but did not accelerate the proliferation of immature plants. Additionally the ratios of carbon to nitrogen in all bagasse composting samples were more inflated whereas the nitrogen phosphorus and potassium were under the specified standard. This bagasse caused lower pH to 5.0-6.0 contributing more acidic to soil. From all results of these findings the organic compost from the fermentation of banana leafs was therefore appropriated for improving soil quality by mixing with sludge. The organic compost provided enough major and minor nutrients that stimulated the plant growth as well. However the formulated ratio of the bananas leafs and sludge mixtures needed to be prior experimentally tested.
Utilization of sludge from power plant as cement substitution
The feasibility of wastewater treatment sludge from the power plant was studied as cement substituted material. The sludge were used as the air dried sample and the oven dried sludge at 300o C. Their properties then the optimum ratio of cement substituted portion for cement block were determined. In the control set; cement sand and water ratio were 1 2.75 and 0.825 (w/w) respectively while the treatment set sludge replacing were varied at 10 20 and 30 %. The blocks were produced and cured in tap water for 7 14 and 28 days and tested their compressive strength. The leaching ability of heavy metals namely Cd Cr Cu and Pb were determined by Waste Extraction Test or WET (according to the standard from the Notification of Ministry of Industry A.D. 2005) and Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure; TCLP (US EPA method 1311). The results showed that the solution from cement block curing both of control set treatment block had basicidic pH range 11 – 12 and caused reduction of the heavy metal solubility. The solution conductivity range 5 - 7 mS/cm. The 10% dried sludge cement blocks were the suitable ratio compared with the control set which the maximum compressive strength at 28th day was 253.81 Kg/cm2 and 4.73 % moisture. All metal leaching abilities were less than those Notification and US EPA standard. Those optimum ratios 10 % can be applied to produce cement pot.
Replacement of Fertilizers with Latex Sludge for Oil Palm Seedlings at Pre-Nursery Stage
Replacement of fertilizer with latex sludge as nutrient sources for oil palm seedlings (3 months) was conducted in randomized complete block design (RCBD) with 3 replications. The treatments consisted of control chemical fertilizer and latex sludge 10 30 50 70 and 90 grams per kilogram soil. The result showed that applying with latex sludge 10 and 30 grams per kilogram soil increased plant nutrients such as phosphorus potassium and magnesium significantly (p <≤ 0.05). While the growth of pre-nursery oil palm including number of leaves leaf width and length stem girth and height are the same as applied with chemical fertilizer. But using latex sludge over 30 grams per kilogram soil have an effect on oil palm seedlings by reducing growth. So in conclusion Latex sludge at the rate of 10-30 grams per kilograms soil can be replaced fertilizers as nutrient sources for pre-nursery oil palm seedlings
